Use this helpful guide to select the right size for your project.
Duct And Vent Sizes
Yes! We can create vents in custom sizes. For custom orders, we typically need either the dimensions of the existing hole or duct, or the overall dimensions you’d like the vent to be.
Our standard turnaround time is typically up to 10 business days. For special orders, our design team first creates a drawing, which usually takes a couple of days. We’ll send the drawing for your approval, and once confirmed, production generally takes up to 10 business days.
Since our vents are designed for high airflow especially in great rooms many clients choose not to use dampers. However, if you have a room near the HVAC system or need to adjust airflow in smaller spaces, installing a damper in these areas can be helpful.
Our dampers sit inside the duct or vent opening, allowing the installer to square the vent to the floor and align it with other vents along a wall. This design provides flexibility and ensures proper placement regardless of how the ductwork was originally installed.
Follow these steps to create a vent directly from your flooring:
- Attach the bushing: Depending on your router, you may need an adapter plate to center the bushing. Some recommend removing the baseplate first for easier attachment. Place the bushing barrel in the bottom of the baseplate, then screw the locking nut on the other side until snug.
- Center the bit: Insert the bushing and center the router bit within it.
- Attach the template: Use double-sided tape to secure your template to the workpiece.
- Route: With the straight bit fitting through the bushing, route the area around the template. When cutting the outside of the template, route counterclockwise; when cutting the inside, route clockwise. Only cut about ¼” depth at a time and clear debris between each pass.
We hope these tips make your installation easier and more precise.
